Questions about Being Catholic?

The O.C.I.A. is the way in which people explore the possibility of joining the Catholic Christian Community.  It’s a process of instruction, prayer and sharing - that leads to full membership in the Catholic Church.

For Whom Is This Process Intended?

It is for those adults who...

  • have never been baptized
  • have been baptized in another Christian Church
  • have been baptized Catholics but never completely initiated through the sacraments of Confirmation and Holy Eucharist.

HOW DO I BEGIN?

The O.C.I.A. team is prepared to welcome inquirers and answer their questions as they deepen their understanding of the Lord through the Catholic tradition. Meetings begin Monday, July 22, and are held each Monday evening at 6:00PM in the conference room of the Family Life Center.  OCIA Team---Rev. Patrick Egan, O.S.B. and Susy Stokes.

If you are interested or know someone who is, please contact the Parish Office at 256.734.3730 or email price@shccullman.org.

Did you know that we will celebrated 150 years on April 9th? Yes! Our first Sacred Heart Church was blessed on April 9th, 1874, and we will celebrate over the next several months with special events and activities.

There are displays in the family life center showing some of the oldest items we have in the archives.  Step back in time with Sacred Heart history through photos and historic items.

So read about Sacred Heart history, see some archives, and celebrate with your parish family, kneeling together to worship our Lord on the same block of land for 150 years.

The reports of sightings of our new organ are true!!! Here is the first official picture of  the console sent to us by Austin Organ. They are still installing a few things, but it looks nearly complete.

The installation team was supposed to have been here this week, but the person who was going to head the team was diagnosed with severe COPD and a blood issue. So Mike Fazio is having to put together another team to install everything. Remember, it is a small company so he has to form a team for our organ and continue to work on other organ orders.

So, let's pray to St. Cecilia, the Patron Saint of organs, that Mike can get the team together quickly, and that they can start the project by the end of June.
